"Trauner Promotes Independence, Congratulates Lummis"

CASPER, WY (Trauner for Congress) -- While welcoming his general election opponent to the race for Wyoming's lone U.S. House seat Tuesday night, Gary Trauner said this year's race is about doing what's right for Wyoming, not what Washington party leaders want.

"When hard-working moms and dads across Wyoming make good money, but still can't save for their children because of high gas prices and health care costs, America is on the wrong track." Trauner went on to say, "It's time to for leaders who know there aren't Democratic problems or Republican problems, there are Wyoming problems and Wyoming solutions. I congratulate and welcome Cynthia Lummis to this debate, and congratulate Mark Gordon on his hard-fought campaign and desire to bring meaningful change to Wyoming."

Trauner finished by noting that he vigorously disagrees with Sen. McCain's proposal to renegotiate Western water rights. "I'll stand up to anyone who doesn't put Wyoming's interests first, and I hope Cynthia uses this opportunity to join me in standing up for Wyoming ranchers and farmers."

Trauner Campaign Manager, Adam Ruff, said, "We need a strong voice like Gary Trauner in Congress to do what's right for Wyoming and keep Wyoming water from going to Arizona golf courses."

The next two and a half months will see Trauner going door-to-door in even more communities than he did in 2006, when he lost by half a percentage point to Rep. Barbara Cubin. Trauner has a county leadership team in all 23 counties comprised of Democrats, Republicans and Independents.
