WYDOT - Transportation Commission Awards $1.8 Million in Contracts

Contracts totaling nearly $1.8 million for five projects around the state were awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission during its June meeting in Cheyenne.

Rice Kilroy Construction of Dubois won the largest of the contracts with its bid of $552,000 to repair landslide damage on WYO 28 about 22 miles south of Lander. The slide has undermined the highway and tire bales will be used as fill material before the highway section is rebuilt. The contract completion date is Sept. 30.    
 
Cheyenne’s Knife River was awarded a $487,000 contract for concrete paving of a drainage ditch that runs under the north end of the Cribbon Avenue pedestrian overpass on I-80 in Cheyenne. The work also will include installation of a new spillway and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30.
 
Highway Technologies of Oak Brook, Ill., won a $371,000 contract for installing plastic tape  pavement markings at 44 railroad crossings in 15 counties around the state. The contract completion date is Sept. 30.
 
Cheyenne’s Simon Contractors was awarded a $236,000 contract for replacing damaged curb, gutter and sidewalk and some slab lifting and undersealing on North Third Street (I-80 Business-US 30-US 287) between Shield and Hancock streets in Laramie. The southbound lanes and the sidewalk on the west side of the street are being undermined by running underground water in the area. The contractor will inject foam under the pavement to fill the void, level the surface and prevent further erosion. The work is expected to be done by Sept. 30.
 
Andreen Hunt Construction of Mills will complete drainage improvements at the intersection of US 20 and Evans Street at the eastern edge of Evansville under a $108,000 contract that includes a completion date of Oct. 31.
