Tropical Storm Fay Remains On Fla. Coast

Florida residents got a double dose of Tropical Storm Fay after it erratically moved north along the state's east coast rather than moving out into the Atlantic Ocean.

In Jacksonville, business was fast-paced and steady as residents prepared for Fay's arrival, reports said.

The storm first hit the Florida Keys before then veering out to see, then back along the Gulf Coast and across the state.

But rather than head out to sea, Fay has now angled northward towards the Florida-Georgia border, forecasters said.

A hurricane watch remained in effect for much of Florida and parts of Georgia Wednesday.

UAW Endorses Obama, as Expected

The United Autoworkers Union announced Tuesday it was backing Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president, a decision that was expected.

UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said rival GOP Sen. John McCain too closely follows "the failed policies of President Bush."

He said the union backed Obama in large part because of the Illinois Democrat's pledge to provide $4 billion in low-cost financing to American car builders to help them retool to make more fuel-efficient automobiles.
